Below is the photo of GN drilling waste management system working for CNPC project successfully, the client is satisfied with the performance, the oil on the cuttings is below 5%, it can meet the environmental regulation for landfill or for disposal. If the user need the OOC to be lower than 1%, we have Thermal desorption unit, the drilling waste management system can be used before TDU, it can save energy and save the operation cost of the TDU for the user.


The drilling waste management system consists of VFD decanter centrifuge, vertical cuttings dryer, screw pump for feeding the centrifuge, screw pump as flushing pump of vertical cuttings dryer, mud tank for collection of the centrifuge fluids.
The features of the GN decanter centrifuge: The goods quality and proper design can ensure the goods separation performance of the decanter centrifuge.


1) All the centrifuge bowl is made of duplex stainless steel 2205 or 2304, which is better than SS316 and SS304, the other components are made of SS316. The screw is made of SS304 by heating treatment.
2) The solids discharge port and fluids distribution port is interchangeable and protected by tungsten alloy.
3) The bearing is SKF brand bearing to ensure the longer working life.

Recently GN solids control shipped several units of solids control equipments for Uzbekistan for cold weather, these equipments are special for low temperature operation to -50℃.We have provided such low temperature solids control equipments to Russia area oil & gas drilling rigs before, including the containerized drilling waste management system. The technical configuration of low temperature containerized drilling waste management system is as below:


The feeding system to the drilling waste management system is through screw conveyor, it is transferred to the open top of the vertical cuttings dryer. One unit of vertical cuttings dryer installed on the mud tank, the discharged solids are dropped down to a continuously working screw conveyor to ship it out from the opening of the standard 40ft container. The fluids dropped to the mud tank and the screw pump will transfer it to the VFD decanter centrifuge ,which is also installed on a short mud tank, the fluids are treated by the VFD decanter centrifuge again and the solids discharged will be also transferred out by the screw conveyor for disposal. Another screw pump is installed on the vertical cuttings dryer mud tank as the flushing pump, once the working is finished, it is necessary to flush it or when the screen basket is blocking, it is necessary to flush with the flushing pump.


All the equipments are installed inside the 40ft container to keep the system warm in cold weather below minus zero degree, to prevent it from getting frozen. The 40ft container is with windows and doors for convenient operation, all the walls attached with the Insulation for better warm.

GN ViST vacuum shale shaker is a shaker unit with a vacuum suction hopper installed under the last shaker screen. The purpose to use the ViST vacuum unit under the shale shaker is for more recovery of the drilling fluids in the same conditions compared with shale shaker without ViST system, and the discharged drilling cuttings will be much drier, so the user can save cost to treat and disposal the drilling cuttings. Normally it is very difficult for the offshore drilling cuttings collection, treatment and disposal, sometimes client will ship them back to drilling waste management facility in land, the collection and shipment cost is very high, other clients use cuttings re-injection technology, some clients use Thermal desorption unit, some clients installed drilling waste management on the offshore rig floor, but normally the area for offshore drilling rig is very limit, it is hard to install a complete vertical cuttings dryer system. Because of these reasons, ViST vacuum shale shaker became very important for offshore.

56 units of drilling fluids mud agitators and 3 units slurry vacuum pump shipped to China client this week.
The mud agitator is consist of electric motor and gearbox and skid, it is installed on the mud tank to prevent the solids from accumulation on the tank bottom. The mud gun length and mud agitator shaft length is customized according to mud tank inner depth. GN mud agitator have C version and D version, the C version mud agitator is that the electric motor and gearbox is connected by coupler , if the client need local standard motors or they want to install their own motors, they can buy the gearbox with coupler and skid, and install the motor locally to meet the special explosion proof standard. D version mud agitator is the lastest mud agitator, the gearbox and electric motor is connected directly, with compact design, it will save space on the mud tank, and easy for maintenance.
The slurry vacuum pump is the most popular drilling cuttings transfer pump since this year, with the advanced technology. It is a pneumatic slurry transfer vacuum pump for liquid, slurry, and solids transfer. The pump can transfer material with high gravity and high density, solids content max. up to 80%.

This week we shipped one unit of oil based drilling waste management system for CNPC, they ever bought similar system before for their domestic and international projects.


To get ideal result of the discharge cuttings and recover oil as much as possible, the performance of vertical cuttings dryer is the major concern. GN has a lot of successful experience for drilling waste management projects, our vertical cuttings dryer has been improved to E version from the year of 2013 when we firstly produce the vertical cutting dryer as per our client’s suggestion and site feedback. From the first A version to the existing E version vertical cuttings dryer, it has been more and more user friendly and maintenance cost has been reduced a lot.


We have 900rpm, 1200rpm rotary speed for option to meet different requirement, the G force is up to 420G / 750G, and the screen basket opening can be 0.25mm, 0.35mm, 0.5mm for option for different drilling waste conditions. The screen basket and screen basket frame is separated, the operator only need to replace the single screen basket when it is wear. The independent oil lubrication system is for better lubrication of the bearing to prevent it from over heating. The automatic interlock system between oil pump motor, main motor and flush pump motor is equipped in case that the main motor starts before oil pump motor.
The decanter centrifuge is used after the vertical cuttings dryer to treat the fluids discharged from the vertical cuttings dryer, after treated by the centrifuge, the fine solids over 2 microns can be separated mostly, the fluids can be used to prepare for new drilling fluids or reuse directly. The high speed decanter centrifuge is used for low gravity solids, the max speed is up to 3900rpm.
