GN Containerized Oil Sludge Treatment Plant for Africa Client

GN Solids Control has successfully supplied a fully containerized oil sludge treatment system to an African client. This compact, skid-mounted plant is designed to treat oily waste from crude oil tank cleaning, refinery ponds, and drilling operations. The system enables the recovery of valuable oil, recycles water, and significantly reduces solid waste volume—all while meeting stringent environmental standards.
The entire plant is integrated into standard shipping containers, making it ideal for Africa’s infrastructure conditions where ease of transport, rapid deployment, and relocation between sites are critical. The modular design also allows future expansion and simplified maintenance.


The system consists of four core modules:
(1) Pre-Mixing Tank Module
The pre-mixing tank module is the first step in the treatment process. Raw oil sludge often has high viscosity, high solids content, and poor fluidity. This module heats, dilutes, and conditions the sludge to create a homogeneous slurry suitable for downstream separation.


(2) Shale shaker Module
After pre mixing, the sludge still contains large debris, stones, and coarse sand. If these particles enter the centrifuge directly, they will cause accelerated wear and reduce separation efficiency. The vibrating screen module removes these oversized solids as a protective step.
(3) Three Phase Decanter Centrifuge Module
Including three phase decanter centrifuge, its feeding pump, fluids catching tank and skid. This is the core separation unit of the entire plant. The three phase decanter centrifuge simultaneously separates oil, water, and solids from the conditioned sludge using high centrifugal force. It is particularly suitable for oily sludge with wide fluctuations in oil content and complex compositions.


(4) Chemical Dosing Module
Effective chemical treatment is essential for breaking emulsions and enhancing separation efficiency. The chemical dosing module automatically prepares and injects flocculants, coagulants, and demulsifiers into the process stream.

16 Packages GN Solids Control Centrifuge for Offshore Drilling Company

Recently 16 packages of GN solids control centrifuges are shipped to offshore drilling company, this is the repeat order from this client.


The offshore decanter centrifuge package including one centrifuge with feed pump and solids discharge trough, one offshore skid, one fluids catching tank and transfer pump, one offshore used VFD control panel. All of the equipments are installed as compact unit for offshore application, the skid and decanter centrifuge lifting pad is designed comply with DNV 2.7-1 standard.
The decanter centrifuge motor and VFD control panel is adopted with offshore applied explosion proof standard. The ambient temperature to be used is -20℃ to +55℃.The standard atmospheric pressure is 80 Kp to 110Kp, normal oxygen content 21%, it can be used with altitude <1000m, relative humidity less than 95%. One centrifuge is composed of main bowl assembly, power drive system, feeding and discharge device and electrical control system.


The decanter centrifuge is widely used in the solids control and drilling waste treatment project, it works to separate the solids phase from drilling fluids, remove the harmful fine drilling solids such as debris in the drilling mud, or recover weighting materials such as barite , etc. as to save the drilling fluids cost. The decanter centrifuge can be used for both onshore and offshore projects, but the electric motor, control panel including VFD control panel, cables standard are different.

GN Decanter Centrifuge System for Africa Oilfield Waste Water Treatment

Recently one set of GN decanter centrifuge separation system are ready for shipment to Africa oilfield waste water treatment project. The system including mixing module, decanter centrifuge separation module, chemical dosing unit module, water recovery and transfer module.


The mixing module including mixing tank with mud agitator, to mix the oilfield waste water, the decanter centrifuge feeding pump will suck the water from the mixing tank to decanter centrifuge, at the same time, the chemical dosing unit will prepare the mixed chemicals and the screw pump will transfer the chemicals to centrifuge feed tube, so the decanter centrifuge can treat the waste water better, the treated water will flow to the water recovery tank and will be transferred to other tanks by the transfer pump.


The decanter centrifuge can separate the waste water into solids phase and liquid phase, GN also produce three phase decanter centrifuge, to separate the waster water into oil, water and solids. A three phase decanter centrifuge uses continuous high G centrifugal force to separate components based on density differential. The three-phase separation (solids, water, oil) happens because:
Solids (highest density) move to the bowl wall.
Water (middle density) forms an intermediate layer.
Oil (lowest density) forms an inner layer (if present in sufficient quantity).

GN decanter centrifuge features including:
1. The bowl and screw core shaft are made of duplex stainless steel SS2205 or SS2304 by centrifugal casting, which is superior to the performance of SS304 and SS316;
2. The solids outlet and liquid outlet are protected by replaceable hard alloy sleeve.
3. The main material of the screw is duplex stainless steel SS2205 or SS2304.
4. The screw propeller is protected by tungsten carbide tiles for longer working life.

GN Drilling Cuttings Treatment Equipment for Middle East Customer

One batch of GN drilling cuttings treatment equipments are ready for delivery to Middle East customer, including 3 sets of high G drying shaker GNZS594K and 2 sets of vertical cuttings dryer GNCD930G.
What is the difference of high G drying shaker with vertical cuttings dryer?
1. Application difference: The high G drying shaker is normally used to treat water based drilling cuttings, the vertical cuttings dryer is normally used to treat oil based mud/ drilling cuttings.


2. Working principal difference: High G drying shaker ( also called as high G dryer) is high vibration G force shale shaker with fine mesh shaker screens. It is drived by 2ea vibration motors, the shaker screen is 4 pcs of 585x1165mm composite material frame shaker screens. When the water based drilling cuttings are feed to high G dryer buffer tank, the massive G force immediately pins solids against the fine screen mesh ( as fine as 200 mesh/74 microns).Liquid passes through the screen and is recovered, while dry solids are conveyed and out by augers.


Vertical cuttings dryer ( also called as verti-G dryer), when the OBM or SOBM wet cuttings are feed to verti G dryer feeding port by screw conveyor, A stainless steel screen basket traps wet solids and accelerates it up to 900rpm with up to 420G, the liquid is forced through screen openings, the dry solids are extracted by the angled flights attached to the rotor, which rotate slightly slower than the screen. The tungsten carbide protect the flights from abrasive solids and ensures longer operation life.
3. Treatment result is different.
The high G drying shaker can dry the WBM drilling cuttings with moisture less than 30% ~ 40%, the vertical cuttiings dryer can dry the SOBM drilling cuttings with OOC <5%, which can be sent to Thermal Desorption Unit for further treatment.
