The general working process is as below:
The high pressure centrifugal pump transfer the clean water from buffer tank to tank cleaning unit to clean the mud tank. GN provide automatic flushing gun to clean the mud tank, which can be designed as skid mounted with frame for offshore drilling application. According to client’s requirement, we can design 1 unit flushing gun or 2 units of flushing gun according to client’s requirement.
The suction pump transfer the washed water from mud tank through the strainer ( to filter the coarse solids bigger than 2mm), then through the static mixer to inclined plate clarifier. In the meantime, the chemical dosing unit supply chemical to the static mixer with the washed water to improve the separation efficiency in the inclined plate clarifier.
The inclined plate clarifier separate the settled solids out and the treated water will overflow to buffer tank. The membrane pump will take out the settled solids from IPC to waste box.
The whole tank cleaning unit can be controlled by the explosion proof control panel on the skid.
After long time operation, the solids control system mud tank need to be cleaned due to the accumulated solids on the tank bottom, which will influence the mud density, to keep the drilling fluids balancing, tank cleaning unit is necessary to be applied.
Except for tank cleaning unit, GN solids control also produced oil sludge separation unit to treat oil tank bottom oil sludge for oil recovery, solids discharge and water treatment. Automatic Mud Tank Cleaning Unit for Offshore Drilling Platform

Recently one complete set of automatic mud tank cleaning unit are ready for shipment for offshore drilling platform to our international client. The automatic mud tank cleaning unit consist of the modular below:

  1. Automatic Flushing Gun , 2 sets of automatic flushing gun are installed on one skid with lifting frame for offshore lifting application.
  2. Mud Suction Unit, the peristaltic type pump sucked the sludge from tank bottom, it can be widely used to suck the sludge with either coarse solids or fine solids, weather with high content or not.
  3. Mud Clarify Unit, it is also called inclined plate classifier, it is a equipment to separate the solids which can be transferred by the bottom installed screw conveyor to waste storage box. By using chemical dosing unit to add flocculants, the fine solids can be separated out easily.
  4. Mud Storage and Transfer Unit, the treated water is storage in the mud storage tank, the water can be reused in the circulation system for tank cleaning by transfer pump.
  5. Waste Cuttings Box, the discharged solids from mud clarify unit will be discharged into waste storage box, when it is full, it will be dumped by crane or forklift.

Shale shaker GNZS593F, 3 units, the shaker screen size is 585x 1165mm, 3pcs shaker screens, for our old clients who already bought GNZS594 shale shaker and mud cleaner, they can use the same dimension shaker screens and only stock one size shaker screens with different mesh size, from API 20 to API 325 as per their requirement. The shaker screens are produced by GN solids control which are comply with API RP13C, all of them are composite material frame shaker screens with longer working life and better separation performance.
  3. Decanter centrifuge GNLW453C, 4 units, the bowl diameter is 18 inch , the bowl length is 61 inch, it can be used to treat drilling fluids, drilling waste, oil sludge, water based mud dewatering unit with chemical dosing unit, etc. applications. The designed capacity is 352gpm and typical treating capacity 264gpm for drilling fluids. The max bowl speed is 3200 rpm, the typical bowl speed is 0 ~ 2800rpm, the max G force is 2578G, the typical G force is 0 ~ 1973G. The mechanical separation cut point is 2~5 microns, with chemical dosing unit, the separation cut point is up to 1 microns.

Mini Solids Vacuum Pump and Mini Decanter Centrifuge for International Customer

Recently one unit of mini solids vacuum pump and mini decanter centrifuge are ready for shipment for international customer. The mini solids vacuum pump is used for tank cleaning application, the mini decanter centrifuge is used for solids liquid separation.
GN solids control can produce vacuum pump with different flow rate, we have GNSP-40B, GNSP-20B, GNSP-10B for option, also we have GNSP-05B as Mini bilge cleaning sludge vacuum pump. The technical specification is as below:


Max flow rate is 5m3/h for clear water, inlet and outlet size is 2 inch and air intake hose size is 1 inch, the vacuum degree is 85Kpa/25 inch HG( Mercury Column), the discharge head is 80m and pressure is 116PSI. The max horizontal discharge distance is 500m. The max solids content is 80%, and max solids size allowed to be sucked is 30mm.The pressure required is 550 ~ 690 Kpa and air demand is 4.3 m3/min ( 150 CFM). The mini vacuum pump can be used for the cleaning of residual waste inside the cabin and the transportation of loose materials. The higher flow rate vacuum pump can be used to transfer drilling waste, oil waste, crude oil tank bottom cleaning sludge, oil sludge, sand, contaminated soil and other sludge, especially it is 100% air operated pump which can be safely used in electricity limited area.


The mini decanter centrifuge with 9 inch centrifuge bowl, we have different models for different applications. GNLW223D baby decanter centrifuge with bowl length 26.4 inch, it can be widely used for diamond core drilling waste water treatment. If the user need a higher treating capacity and need the discharged water more clear, they can select a longer bowl length 36.4 inch, GNLW224ET-VFD.

Chemically enhanced centrifugation(flocculation)

Chemically Enhanced Centrifugation, flocculation, is to enhance the remove of fine solids in WBM by a decanter centrifuge.GN solids control produce different size decanter centrifuge, including 9 inch, 14 inch, 18 inch, 22 inch, 30 inch diameter bowl, also different bowl length to meet different treatment requirement. We also provide chemical dosing unit together with decanter centrifuge working, especially for water based mud drilling waste treatment which is discharged from high G drying shaker, the chemical enhanced centrifugation can improve the centrifuge working efficiency and get better treatment result.

    The chemical enhanced centrifugation enables fine particles to be coagulated, flocculated and removed more easily. By adding a coagulant to neutralize the negative charge of the fine particles, the colloidal particles follow the flocculant to bridge the small flocs into larger clumps, which are then removed by a centrifuge.GN can provide customized chemical dosing unit according to different decanter centrifuge model.
    GNLW363C-VFD decanter centrifuge is the most popular model decanter centrifuge for chemical enhanced centrifugation treatment. The bowl diameter is 14 inch the bowl length is 50 inch, the ratio is 3.5, we also have model GNLW364 with bowl length 59.5 inch, with ratio 4.25, the water can be treated more clear with longer straight cone. The max speed is 3900rpm, the typical speed is 3200rpm, the max G force is 3063G, and typical G force is 2062G. With chemical enhanced centrifugation, the separation cut point can reach to 1 microns, the discharged clear water can be reused or send to waste water treatment facility.
