GN solids control has
designed and produced hundreds of  mud
tank system for oil drilling rigs since 2008. We were also invited by some
tenders of ONGC, Oil India etc. oil company for their mud tank system. If you

Specifications of painting/ coating:

Internal tank with 2 layers of anticorrosive coatings, tank
outside with 3 layers of coatings, sandblast before painting. Two pack Epoxy zinc,
thickness 75 μ  for inside tank,                                                                                  
     Two Pack( first layer and
middle layer) Epoxy hi-build containing anticorrosive pigmentstwice,  thickness 250 μ   , Surface pigmented( top coating) with high
quality light fast PU pigments, thickness 70 μ for outside tank.

Mud tank materials:

Normally we make rectangular
tank for mud tank system,
sometimes we also make cylindrical tanks when rectangular tank is not suited
for the project, for example, limit of space, large volume, cheaper cost. For
rectangular tanks, we can make it open tank top or closed tank top or with
gratings cover. The mud tank dimension is calculated by the required storage
volume, we can make standard 40ft container size tank and customized size
tanks. The body(shell) of the tank is made of 6mm thickness corrugated steel plates, sometimes 8mm as required. The bottom plate is normally
8mm, sometimes 10mm as required. 3 runner oilfield tank skid with 250mm porch
on both sides.

However the above mentioned specs could be varies for different tenders.

The mud tank system also equipped with shale shaker, mud cleaner, vacuum degasser,
decanter centrifuge, cavity pump, mud hopper, centrifugal pump, mud agitator, mud
gun, slurry pump, and also with necessary mud tank accessories, including clean
gate, man hole, guard rails, stairs, walkway, pipelines, valves, flexible hose,
hammer union, mud overflow line, lightings, etc,

The
solids control system could eliminate the large solid particles within the
drilling mud to reduce the particular solids content so that to guard the
transferring pump which used to transfer the mud back the rig with regard to
reusing. GN just done one set mud solids control system with VFD
decanter centrifuge
for gold mining project in Southeast Okazaki, japan.
This system is a 3 stages separation design model; the equipment configuration
is as beneath:
1 . Shale shaker unit GNZS594E-HB used for coarse strong particle separation.
This shale shaker unit could also be employed as a high G pressure drying
shaker
with variable G force up to 7. 4-panel screen makes a bigger area
for drying the actual drilling mud.
2 . VFD design decanter centrifuge device used for fine solids splitting up.
The first one unit centrifuge goes at a middle speed to eliminate most of the
solids to reduce the particular gravity. The following second system VFD
control centrifuge might run at a high speed to get rid of the ultra fine solids
to make the drilling mud
cleaner
.

3. Screw pump set up to transfer the mud to the centrifuge. Horizontally put in
at the flank of the tank, it helps to tank leading more space for operation
mobility.
4. Mud catching tank
used as sand snare and active mud safe-keeping.
This system is to get rid of the solid particles in the going mud to make the
drilling essential fluids reuse. After the solids currently being removed, the
fluids may be pumped back for recycle and the pump would be
additionally protected as there are less solids particles.
Mud solids control system is very common merchandise and solution that GN

Containerized Dewatering Unit

The coagulation and flocculation unit
(hereinafter referred to as the CFU) is intended to serve as the mobile
unit for centrifuges chemical improvement while the drilling mud cleaning
(extraction of “process water” non-combined solvent and removal of the “drilled
solids, solid and dissolved chemical reagent” solids from the mud by
preliminary chemical treatment of the mud and subsequent phase separation in
the centrifuge).

The GNDU2000 Series 20FT Dewatering Unit
provides a process of chemically enhanced configuration to remove the fine
solids less than 5 microns from the water based drilling fluids. As it known
that traditional solids control equipments like shale
shaker
, desander,desilter,
and decanter
centrifuge
will removes solids upper than 5 microns, for colloidal-size
particles which is less than 5 microns will build up in the drilling mud
system. To maintain the drilling mud properties, the operators have to dilute
the drilling fluids with water, this consumes more water and create more
drilling waste.

The mud to be cleaned is supplied from mud tanks to the
station by the centrifuge feeding pumps. The mixing device (mixer) is installed
inside the CFU. The CFU process equipment perform the mud mixing (dosing) with
chemical reagents in the mixer, then the mud is fed from the CFU to the
centrifuges. Centrate (process water) obtained in the centrifuges returns to
the CFU, and solids contained in the mud are removed by the centrifuge and
transferred into the sludge transporter. Centrate (water) is measured in the
CFU and if its parameters are satisfactory, the station pumps transfer it into
the tank (receiving tank) for the new mud mixing. If results are not
satisfactory, the centrate is pumped into the sludge transporter.

Mud and water are delivered and discharged
from the CFU by flexible hoses. The water supply system shall provide water
flow rate of approximately 3 m3/h for mixing in tanks. Centrate overflow,
centrate output to the storage vessels, centrate output to the control vessel,
water input/output, mud input to cleaning shall be designed with quick-release
couplings DN50 and shall be located in the same port on the CFU outer wall. The
port is covered by cover with padlock. 50 meters of flexible hoses are included
into the scope of delivery. Centrate is fed into the centrifuged water tank by
DN150 pipeline. Pipeline inside the CFU is made of constructional carbon steel.
Flange and gooseneck outside the CFU is made of constructional steel and
intended for centrate feeding from two centrifuges. The flexible hose DN150
delivers centrate. 10 meters of flexible hoses are included into the scope of
delivery. All quick-release couplings, flanges, bolts, goosenecks shall be
included into the scope of delivery also.

We have never been so far, we may did not change the
world, but we lead the market. Before GN Solids Control, in the
China market, there is only US copy shakers, which is basicly a shale shaker.
But it is not beautiful.

because you need make it beautiful, and useful, user friendly.

The tank design is very important to keepsure all design reaches requirement and convenient for operators. The mud tank need consider its usable muddepending on drilling conditions and need consider its active circulation todrilling hole. The mud tank capacity will be affect by drilling depth also .Usable
mud is defined as the mud volume which can be pumped before suction is
lost. For example, a typical 20,000 f t
well will normally require a minimum active system tank volume of 1000 bbl.

 

The active surface system will be divided
into two parts, solids removal and addition suction. All solids removal
equipment and degassing equipment in the solids removal part the addition suction
part is designed to make fresh mud to the circulating system and provide
sufficient residence time for proper mixing to occur before being delivered to downhole. A slug tank is usually available to pump
small “pills “such as LCM or barite slugs for tripping. Each part must be
further divided into enough compartments to efficiently carry out its designed
function and circulation application.

The quantity of compartments required will depend
on the amount and type of solids removal equipment like shale shaker, desander, desilter, decanter
centrifuge and vacuum degasses system size and circulation mud flow each
compartment must have enough surface area to allow entrained air to break out
of the drilling mud. A rule of thumb for
the minimum surface area is calculated by: Area (squarest) = Maximum
Circulating Rate (GPM)/40To maximize solids suspension and usable volume, round
type tank with conical bottom is the best option for a tank, square or
rectangular shape with V bottom is the second option for mud tank, Square or
rectangular shape with a flat bottom is the last option but easier for
manufacture. The ideal tank depth is same with the tank width or diameter of
the tank. This design provides good pump suction head and is best for complete
stirring.
