1. shale shaker. Shale shaker is the most
efficient equipment in solids control process, because it uses less energy

vibration motors. The disadvantage is that the shaker could not separate very

is a high speed rotation machine, mostly horizontal. It has a
high speed rotating bowl and inside bowl there is an impeller. During the

causes the liquid phase continuously flows out of the bowl while the solids
particles are slashed on the bowl inside wall and pushed out of the centrifuge solids
discharge ports. The decanter centrifuge a gentle and precise, more costly than
shale shaker, not only the cost of itself, but also the consumption of electric
power. But it is ideal solution for separating out the fine and extra fine

As is known to all and recognized by more
and more people, a waste management system is more and more important for an
oil and gas drilling jobsite. In some countries, there are strict laws that
without a drilling waste management system,
the drilling rig is not allowed to start.

Nowadays, the most popular waste management
system is combined by a vertical cuttings dryer and a high speed decanter
centrifuge. The vertical cuttings dryer is working like a washing machine’s
drying process, and the liquid phase discharged by the vertical cuttings dryer
falls into a tank under the cuttings dryer, and then transferred to the
centrifuge for further treating.

Although all such systems are for further
separating the drilling cuttings discharged by solids control system in former
phase and they are nearly same, but since each jobsite is different, the
feeding method differs a bit. Per the layout of jobsite and the material
conditions, there are mainly 3 kinds of feeding methods:

1.      Using
a hose pump for transporting the material into the vertical cuttings dryer. A
hose pump itself is small in size. It has some self suction function, but not
so common as following two methods.

2.      Using
a screw conveyor (auger) and a screw pump for feeding the
vertical cuttings dryer.

3.      Using
two screw conveyors for feeding, one is horizontal and the other is a slope
one.

In both above mentioned methods, the first
screw conveyor could have a hopper for collecting drilling cuttings.

No matter which method is chosen for a
certain jobsite, it depends on the jobsites’ space and requested layout, and
also affected by material condition as the density and viscosity. May you have

What Centrifuges does GN produce?

1.      High speed Decanter Centrifuge GNLW363C
series decanter centrifuge
. This is 14 inch bowl decanter centrifuge,
and very popular size and design. For the same model, GN has highest
configuration and economic configuration available. The highest configuration
is suitable for waste management use and also regarded perfect as dewatering
centrifuge. The economic configuration is suitable for separating the fine
particles for solids control system. For each configuration, there are fixed
speed and VFD controlled available.

2.    Middle
Speed Decanter Centrifuge GNLW452, with a 18 inch diameter bowl. In some cases,
it is regarded as big bowl centrifuge. it is perfect in practice for recovery
the barite in solids control system. It has only one motor, and a middle speed
of 1800RPM.

3.      Big
Bowl Decanter Centrifuge GNLW553VFD Centrifuge, with 22 inch diameter bowl, and
71 inch long. It is a bigger sized GNLW363C decanter centrifuge.

4.      Baby
Centrifuge, GNLW223, the bowl diameter is only 9 inch, it is commonly used for
diamond drilling or some mining projects.

Among those above mentioned decanter
centrifuges, GNLW363CG-VFD is the best seller. And it is always used for
drilling waste management systems together with other equipments for further
treating the drilling cuttings from a solids control system. For WBM systems,
they always use high-G dryer shaker, and for OBM
and SBM, they always use vertical cuttings dryer. Both

The tank design is very important to keepsure all design reaches requirement and convenient for operators. The mud tank need consider its usable muddepending on drilling conditions and need consider its active circulation todrilling hole. The mud tank capacity will be affect by drilling depth also .Usable
mud is defined as the mud volume which can be pumped before suction is
lost. For example, a typical 20,000 f t
well will normally require a minimum active system tank volume of 1000 bbl.

 

The active surface system will be divided
into two parts, solids removal and addition suction. All solids removal
equipment and degassing equipment in the solids removal part the addition suction
part is designed to make fresh mud to the circulating system and provide
sufficient residence time for proper mixing to occur before being delivered to downhole. A slug tank is usually available to pump
small “pills “such as LCM or barite slugs for tripping. Each part must be
further divided into enough compartments to efficiently carry out its designed
function and circulation application.

The quantity of compartments required will depend
on the amount and type of solids removal equipment like shale shaker, desander, desilter, decanter
centrifuge and vacuum degasses system size and circulation mud flow each
compartment must have enough surface area to allow entrained air to break out
of the drilling mud. A rule of thumb for
the minimum surface area is calculated by: Area (squarest) = Maximum
Circulating Rate (GPM)/40To maximize solids suspension and usable volume, round
type tank with conical bottom is the best option for a tank, square or
rectangular shape with V bottom is the second option for mud tank, Square or
rectangular shape with a flat bottom is the last option but easier for
manufacture. The ideal tank depth is same with the tank width or diameter of
the tank. This design provides good pump suction head and is best for complete
stirring.
